1st presentation - Forth Valley College

  • Jasmin Hodge, Learning Technology Co-ordinator
  • Caroline McConachie, Travel and Tourism Lecturer

Our presentation will include our use of template Mahara pages with student groups to curate and present their assessment evidence for 2 travel and tourism units.  The use of template pages prompts the students with scaffolding instructions to support and help with the design of their page, also allowing any creativity using Mahara skins and artefacts.  We will also demonstrate using the Journal block within the page to encourage peer review required in the assessment criteria.

2nd presentation - University of the Arts, London

  • John Jackson, Educational Developer (Digital Learning). My focus is teaching and learning and I work closely with colleagues across the six colleges of University of the Arts London (UAL).

  • This session will share some of the ways in which Mahara use is embedded within students’ learning at UAL. UAL has been using Mahara (which we have customised and call ‘Workflow’) for almost 10 years. For us it is an eStudio and an ePortfolio. This presentation will explore and discuss some of the ways in which thoughtful use of Mahara supports creative students’ learning.
