I'm no big fan of the P word (pedagogy) as it implies (along with a blank slate idea) a rather behaviourist notion that it is possible to create a series of steps which will always lead to effective learning for all. I prefer to think of Heutagogy as a better description of how learning happens. It is a dynamic process which we as practitioners can contribute to if we engage with our learners by providing provocations and opportunities for them to investigate and discover following their own intrinsic motivation. This is an approach which I adopt in my LN306 module (Developing teaching in Languages) which brings together final year students of languages who are considering teaching as a career. They investigate the issues around language teaching/learning from a theoretical and a practical perspective in order to design a learning intervention using technology. However, this approach requires participants to develop their critical and reflective skills, and for that I use the Mahara affordances. More about this in my presentation on Wednesday.  

I would be interested to see if others have resources they use to encourage reflection in their teaching.
